Nationwide Passive Fire Solutions are fully accredited to undertake fire door inspections and Maintenance. We regularly undertake inspections in hospitals, residential buildings, office blocks, university campuses, and student accommodation, to keep occupants safe.
Regular inspections and maintenance will ensure your fire doors are compliant and fit for purpose and should be considered in the same way as regularly testing a fire alarm or a fire extinguisher.
Due to general use, traffic flow, and wear and tear, all fire doors should be checked by the appointed competent person/contractor every 6 months to ensure that they function correctly.
Any defect, damage, or fault with the door should be reported and rectified immediately.
A door’s fire performance is tested in accordance with either BS 476-22 or BS EN 1634-1 and marked accordingly.
It may have been identified in the inspection report, that remedial works need to be completed, to make the door compliant.
Common faults are:
Doors/frames incorrectly fitted or damaged
Doors not Latching
Faulty door closer
Damaged fire seals
Glazing not to specification
Planned Maintenance Porgramme
We can carry out and implement an agreed maintenance program, as maintaining a fire door is as critical as any role in the life cycle of a fire door. For the fire safety of your building, fire doors must be checked every 6 months.
On completion of your fire door inspection, you will be provided with a detailed report describing each door’s condition and highlighting any necessary remedial work. Where doors are found to be non-compliant, we also supply a detailed quote for the work required to rectify the defects.
More than 100,000 fire door inspections carried out by FDIS's approved inspectors in 2021, found that 75 percent of fire doors failed to meet the required standards, putting lives at risk in the event of a fire.
